What can we do with homegrown oranges?
We've got an orange tree which has gone really made and is covered in little oranges this year.
Assuming they are safe to eat (don't think it's ornamental) any ideas what to do with the oranges. I'm guessing they would be pretty bitter so marmalade is probably the best bet.

Are they plum shaped? If so I think that they are kumquats, which make really excellent marmalade...use any recipe you have for orange marmalade, using the kumquats instead.
Do you have this tree indoors? I am sooo jealous, have never managed to get fruit on any kind of citrus tree, have given up on them....maybe I'll start again

Are they really little? Homebase sometimes has some ornamental orange plants with lovely scented flowers and fruits about walnut size - I don't know if there's any reason why NOT to eat the fruit, but they're pretty darn sharp. My TV is broken!

They are about golf ball size and not plum shaped so I don't think they are kumquats.
I think they've fruited so well as my OH bought some summer and winter foods and has been diligently feeding and caring for them.0 -
I am sure you can put them into brandy or vodka. Cointreau is exactly this - bitter oranges in alcohol! This recipes uses kumquats but I don't see why its not worth a go with the oranges. Another alternative is orange wine.
