In your head, not wanting new builds = saying "there is no shortage"?
here's exactly what he saidWhat I don'y get is why people classed as "bears" do not want new housing to be built to bring down house prices. If I was looking to buy I would be saying we do need to build more houses.
it really didn't fit into your viewpoint though hence your little rant... :T0 -

I said we need more houses you are the one going on about "new-builds"
You asked for an example, I provided one. Why the little rant?
The point was people saying we did not need more housing and the people saying we don't need it are of "bearish" persuasion, is that observation that upsetting? I was just pointing out you would have thought it would have been the opposite that is all.
But I suppose the rant avoids the other point I raised on easy credit.0 -
!!!!!! are you guys on.

Any proof of what you are saying?I have been on many threads that they do not believe there is any housing shortage at all because there a 1/2m empty and another 1/2m on right move.Originally Posted by macaque
As for the housing shortage, it doesn't exist.

Well dragged OT Graham I talk about building for HA's (and the building of other affordable housing that goes with it) and you still want to go on about.......?
You were the one going on about them being to expensive to buy. (but is that the be all and end all of affordable housing)
Shortage of housing / affordable housing is not just down to houses to buy.
But I know the chances of logical debate with you are going to be near 0% graham.
Could you tell me what you are upset about or what you are objecting about as nothing you have ranted about gives me any idea?
Or better still discuss some of the point I raised rather than asking for proof who said what (even though I did supply it)0 -
I'm yet to see any newbuilds in my area that are affordable. Most are at least 20% above what the equiv non newbuild is. Also gardens are tiny. Personally my opinion is there is no housing shortage just lots of speculation. If there was a shortage builder would build and buyers would buy.0

i would always expect to pay more for a new build compared to an equiv non new build because its new and therefore has a few benefits:
has a warranty
cheaper running costs
no need to redecorate
choose your own kitchen design
don't need to worry about changing heating and electrical installation etc
choose your own tiling to bath and kitchen
etc0
