Recommended third party canon batteries NB-6L

Hi all

I've just purchased an Ixus camera requiring a NB-6L battery. The stock battery is 1000mah but I can see on the internet there are also 1100, 1200 and 1500mah third party ones. Does anyone have any third party batteries for their ixus that they recommend? Could you post the supplier?

I can see someone ebay called petiteqq with a lot of feedback is selling 1500mah nb-6l batteries for £5.50 delivered from within UK. Anyone used this person?

not used that ebayer but have used third party batteries for canons for years, however, they got smart recently and have added some wizardry to the latest gen of their batteries which means no one can totally duplicate them.....
if the third party ones come with acarger this is usually a sign of this, also if 7dayshop.com dont have any this also suggests that you should maybe buy a pukka one. note that most of the latest canon ones are really long life, failing that, take the charger with you ! HTH

how can i find out if the ixus 95 will accept third party batteries?

I didn't realise this was the case as it influenced my decision not to go with panasonic in the first place.

My Ixus uses the same battery i.e. 1000mAh and a couple of years ago it started to fail to hold a charge for any length of time. Bought one of 1500mAh non-standard replacements (unbranded) from eBay (can't remember who I got it from) and it has worked brilliantly since. Can't obviously comment on petiteqq but the battery has been fine.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

yup my Ixus 30 has used two 'ebay' batteries which lasted for years (still working and handed down to family). Just concerned reality may have changed for the Ixus 95 which I have just purchased.

The Ixus 95 uses exactly the same pattern battery as we have been discussing i.e. the NB-6L. It is the battery pattern that matters and provided the connectors, voltage and current matches the manufacturer is effectively irrelevant. Just search on eBay for that pattern.

Does Panasonic have "original battery only" detection in all their cameras? That is well worth knowing - I was about to spend around £250 on a Panasonic, but I will definitely not buy that brand if they do.

This is one area where I wish the EU competition commission would take an interest, but they don't care about the little people (i.e. us, as consumers).

The Lumix TZ6 and 7 definitely did. This combined with no viewfinder is what put me off otherwise I see them as superior cameras.
