replacing toilet

Hi, our toilet broken it an old over head flush one(,1940s0 my husband thought he would look into replacing the whole thing with a new type one. but he says that the outlet waste pipe on the new ones are lower by about 5cm, so he was wondering if he could make a plith, (i am worry about this as he isnt a good diy er,.is this usual ? we probably could get a new over head system but really i would like a new toilet as well as it has a crack

There are loads of waste pipe adaptors available, just go to a plumbers merchant or DIY shop and take a look. You should be able to find an adaptor to suit!0
