I spotted this on my tax renewal notice that I received today.

The new rules are here;

  • Yeah, I've known that for a while, looking foward to my £25 rise.

    Yeah, I've known that for a while, looking foward to my £25 rise.

    It would appear that £10 of it will be going to subsidise new car buyers.:mad:

    What are the ‘first-year rates’?
    From April 2010 anyone buying a new car will pay a different rate of Vehicle Tax for the first tax disc. From the second tax disc onwards they will then pay the standard rate. This will send a stronger signal to the buyer about the environmental implications of their car purchase and will only apply to new cars, not already registered cars.

    ive taken this from your link,apparently £10 a year to someone who can afford to buy a brand new car every year is a "strong signal" about the environmantal impact thier new purchase is having on the planet. :rotfl:

    someone has to pay for it,so it makes sense to just charge the motorist again and again and again...

    Yep £400 saving over the cars I had last year. = 8 tanks of diesel = 5000 miles.

    Is it just me or is that phrase not exceptionally patronising and insulting?
