Tape for Cushioned Vinyl Flooring

I had to take up my vinyl flooring to over-board with ply, can anyone recommend a carpet tape or double sided tape for sticking the perimeter back down??
I've tried Duct Carpet Tape and Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape neither of which are particularly sticky! The original tape used was some sort of double sided cloth based tape and was REALLY sticky (I had to use white spirit to get it off of my hands when I took the floor up) but I don't know the name of it or where to get it from??

you really shouldn't need double sided tape, the vinyl should eventually lie flat by itself

It is laying flat virtually everywhere but I want to stick the outside edge:
    1) because when the fitters laid it they taped it
    2) because where I've taken it up its moved slightly and need to stick it down on when edge so it holds while I smooth it out to the opposite edge
    3) because I don't want it to move, which is also why I want to use something as strong as it was originally laid with.

When our vinyl was laid, the men used a spray and basically stuck it down all over. You can buy the stuff in carpet shops.

Yeah thanks. I used a spray adhesive to stick the insulation before the vinyl was laid, I checked it all out first and it was supposedly THE best one & not cheap either but it appears it was crap because all the insulation came unstuck and moved; taking the vinyl with it! Hence the reason why I am having to take the vinyl up, over-boarding and why I want to stick it securely to the boards as I re-lay it because its killing my back to do it and I REALLY don't want to have to do it again!!
Tape would be more convienent and less messy if only I could find something sticky enough!!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with the spray. Ours has worked very well.
