"Free Message" Debt Reduction Phone Call

I too get these most annoying messages several times a day and now almost never answer my landline because of this. We have even considered changing our phone number, so annoyed are we at these unsolicited calls!
I think I read somewhere that someone, when receiving these calls, just picked up the phone silently and said nothing and after a few times they stopped getting these messages - presumably because the auto dialler system thought it was a fax number or something like that? Tried this once but my 10 month old made too much noise!LBM 31/01/2009: £19,422

I'm getting these regular too. I reckon a DCA has sold my number on. Seems too coincidental. I've gone through to the operator too on a couple of occasions and told them in so many words that I would call down there and shove something vertical up their rectum. To date I am still getting the calls, and this option is looking more and more likely.
did you manage to find out what the company was called?
i get these too a couple of times a day its driving me nuts to put it nicely0 -
I get these and the most annoying thing is that I put the phone down, if I pick it up a minute later, the voice is still rambling on. No idea who it is, so can't report them.Debts at LBM - Mortgages £128497 - non mortgage £27497 Debt now £[STRIKE]114150[/STRIKE][STRIKE]109032[/STRIKE] 64300 (mortgage) Credit cards left 0

I keep getting these messages also every day, i wouldnt press 2 in case its a premium number im getting sick of it but there is no number to find out where it is coming from0

I have been receiveing the same recorded message 2/3 times a day. The caller witholds the number and unless you use one of the options at the end of the message to porceed with the Debt reduction advise( which I haven't) I agree there is no way of tracing this. I also subscribe to TPS but it seems to make no difference at all. Any ideas anyone?0

I stopped answering all calls from withheld numbers & let them go to answerphone which seemed to reduce the number of times a day they tried to call, unfortunately one Friday a friend answered the phone for me & it was the dreaded "Free reduce your debt" message, now every Friday they plague me with calls up to 5 times in one day from anywhere between 8am & 8pm!!0

Hi, i am new to this thread but have suffered for months with this phone call.
I think i have found a way to shorten the message to the point where it asks if you want to be removed from the mailing list.
Next call you get, press the hash key very fast a few times then the star key the same, repeatedly.
The voice then says press 2 to speak to them or 9 to be removed.
I have only just tried it today, so i do hope it works.0 -
I keep getting this message as well but think yourselves because I get alot of phone calls thinking that I'm running a business and they're all from different sources. Because of all this I'm wondering if I can get an answer machine that comes on if it doenst recognise the number. Kind of like a firewall for a PC.0

Is anybody else getting this, everyday I get a call from a withheld number its a recorded message saying "This is a free call, please do not hang up you will not be charged" and then goes on about reducing your debt in 12 months??
I don't know how they have got my number as I'm registered with TPS, I'm not interested and am fed up of receiving the call but it doesn't give any indication as to who is making the call.
Does anyone know who it is and how to make them stop??
The phone just rang - "This is a free message. This is a public service announcement. Please do not hang up."
I hung up... Any idea which company this was? I ran a search on google and this thread was the closest match I could find for more information.
I'm not usually at home this time of day (normally in the office), so this is the first time I've had such a phone call. I really shouldn't bother answering - friends and family are much more likely to give my mobile a ring!0 -
Just had my daily phone call from a witheld number.
I am also ex-directory and registered with TPS.
Update.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Second call of the day!
Has anybody actually pressed 2 to find out who is calling?
