    I think it depends on the relationship you have with your cat. I have taken cats on holiday before and they've been allowed outside too, one was to a caravan on a holiday park!

    Never had any problems with them getting lost but then my cats never wander too far anyway, especially in unfamiliar surroundings, and have very good recall.

    The one we took to the caravan park was actually a young male kitten we'd had just a few months and he craved attention so no way could he have been left at home. When we let him outside it was for 'playtime' with toys (balls, string etc) and he was constantly supervised and brought back indoors just as soon as he started to get bored with them.

    The last time I went away for a couple of weeks and left my cats at home with relatives, one became so stressed at my absence she over-groomed to the extent she made herself bleed in several areas :(
