Abbey/Santander Debit Cards

Hi Everyone,

I bank with Abbey, and recently broke my debit card so I asked for a new one to be sent. When the new card arrived, now branded Santander, it didn't come with a cheque guarantee symbol???

I never use it, just wondered why really??

    Cheque guarantee cards are being phased out.

    As cheques get phased out, the guarantee becomes irrelevant....

    The guarantee scheme is being closed on 30th June 2011. Cheques will continue for some time after that, with the current aim being to phase them out by October 2018.
