Help and/or advice required re barlcays claim.

Some time ago, I put in claim (like many) for my bank charges. Unfortunately, this was after the hold. A while later, I asked to look at my claim through financial difficulties, which the said I wasn't. They then (spontaneously) reviewed this decision and gave me just over £500.

In light of the new templates (which in honesty, I dont really know if they apply to me or fully understand them), can I reclaim the rest. I have no idea how much this would equate to as Barclays did not provide a list of charges, only a summary (and only back to 2003!!) which all seem to have been charged at month end. However, the summary equates to around £800 (for the six years)

Apologies for this post - I know I usually give out advice - but I dont profess to be an absolute expert on bank charges.
No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I assume you have had a letter rejecting claims based on the level of the charges, is that right?
There will be a guide to taking the bank to court but this time it will be a lot harder. To be honest, Oscar, I would read and read and read and keep reading to understand the arguments in full.

    Thanks Nattie.

I have indeed had the letter saying "we were right, you were wrong". Appreciate its going to be a lot harder than previous.

Would it be possible to ask them to look again at the financial difficulties - It was Barclays that decided I was, not me - I have no actual priority debts - rent/mortgage, rates etc.

  • It would be unlikely that you would be able to do so if there are no priority debts
