I bought a new Acer laptop a year ago. It was terrible. I had to send the laptop away for service no less than four times for the same problem (screen would not power up) and on EVERY occasion, the laptop came back with the same problem. Seriously bad.
I gave up when the warranty ran out. I sent an email complaining about it but was fobbed off and told to contact someone else... ridiculous. I'm never ever buying an Acer laptop again.

I'm afraid anything Acer is Cr*p. At work they mistakenly bought Acer PC LCD flat Screens. Most barely lasted a year. I work for a VERY big company. OOOPs.

I've suspected that the thing with laptops is that you can get a dud now and again - my main problem is with the awful service Acer gave - it always came back displaying the same problem after a few weeks and I was never offered a refund, or a replacement, despite asking for a replacement. I feel mad because it's like throwing away £800 along with a lot of stress and time wasted. I never got much use out of the laptop and it was an expensive problem since I need a laptop because I work from it.
I got an IBM laptop off ebay anyway, which I've used for five months, and I love it, it is brilliant. My previous Toshiba laptop was wonderful as well - heavily used for 3 years and I only had to get a replacement because it was stolen.
The Acer price/'value' lured me in I admit.. won't be doing that again though, although it's kind of gratifying to see that someone else finds their products questionable to say the least (argh, a big company getting all of those dud lcd screens).0
