So in conclusion the car would still be MOT'ed for 20 days the new test does not cancel out the old one.

I've driven a MOT failure for about a week before getting it fixed and retested - never encountered any trouble.
TBH the problem it failed for (and then passed) got much more serious a few weeks later so I was driving an even worse car with 11 months and 1 week MOT :shhh:0 -
