The butter is very firm so we might get away with adding a little more milk or water to make it go further.

that's the tomatoey one to test if you're still up for it :)

I just checked your blog for the recipe, and realised I actually cook this all the time :) The only difference is that I use a carton of passata instead of a tin of tomatoes, as the other half just does not get on with lumps of tomatoes. I guess that in a Shirley month I'd have to whizz up the tin of toms (passata would push the price up by a few pence) in a blender, then reduce the sauce for longer to get the desired consistency to coat the pasta.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

I know where you're coming from and it's a very kind thing to do and very supportive of our challenge, but I think it's going to get removed, and I'd really hate if this thread got removed too, as there's so much fab stuff on here :(

They really are having to be very tight on these things now, and I'm sorry if by using a winkie smiley earlier it seemed like I was not fitting with the new rules.

I still don't quite understand quite what the rule means - I get it that a poster is not allowed to link or refer to their blog in any way, but are we still allowed to link to other people's blogs ? In other words, I hope I did not break any rules by linking to your blog earlier rather than just giving the instructions on how to reach it. If I have, please let me know, and I'll edit.

Moving swiftly on, I have been looking at the list of tasks on the first page, and just wanted to check if you have anyone looking after the "batch cooking day" part of the task ? If not, I'd be happy to take that one on :)

    Better Butter Spread

    250g butter
    half cup veg oil
    80ml milk
Let butter come to room temperature & whip. Slowly add oil until all is incorporated. Pack into container & refrigerate.

would anyone be willing to test this?

I have based it on proportions old-style threads say has worked for some people, but even if the texture fails, it would work in pastry, crumble topping, cakes...still, so hopefully not too much of a risk :)

    ?????

When do you add the milk in ??
Or is that just to drink whilst you're making it ?? :p

LOL. I do actually know what you mean, Potty ! You know those Catherine Tate characters, the middle-aged couple that sit and complain about foreign food ? "No Christmas dinner - and this in November ??? Dirty, dirty bar stewards !". Well, that's what I was like when I first got to UK and realised that people put mayo on their potato salad !!!!

Anyway, you are clearly beyond temptation, but if anyone else is still sitting on the fence, just look here. Go on, go on, go on, I dare you.... :p

Ahhhhh seee... now that looks lovely....
I think, for me, it needs to be marketed differently....
My ex husband hated macaroni cheese :(...
But he loved pasta with cheese sauce ;)

Maybe I will give it a go soon :D

thanks Allegra that'd be great :)

I think it's a biggie, so I hope others are willing to support you in that :D

My main thinking on it is that we need to help Shirley organise her time and oven the best way, and also to get stuff made batched and in the freezer to prevent snackage!

But I shall think further on what it might need to include :)

About the other thing you said, I think posting about where things are is ok, but potty had her sig removed because it had an unauthorised link and I didn't want the same thing to happen to Ariarniaa.

Also I lost a whole thread on old-style, and I'd just be so gutted if this thread got deleted, because it represents literally hundreds of hours of work and research. And I've tried backing it up but I can't :(

I'm so sorry if anyone feels I'm being cautious or precious I just feel I and we have invested so much!

    Love weezl x

How shall we market the potato salad?

had the omlette (4 eggs, sweetcorn, onion) for dinner last night - with carrots and croatian potato salad. a great success - especially the potato salad which everyone said they preferred to the usual pot salad I make (with mayo). only downside was that DH was still hungry and ate 8 slices of toast in the course of the evening! so next time more spuds!
