CARROT CAKE
Well, I relented and cooked a half portion of the carrot cake. My, my, how wickedly moreish is that. OH really liked it too. Carrot cake is one of his favourites, but he tries to avoid extra sugar like the icing carrot cake often has on it, and the recipes I have tried before taste much nicer with it than without it, but this one is soft and delicious and doesn't need icing at all.0 -

So the aim is for something to serve with the sweetcorn fritters? Does it need to serve for anything else like sandwiches?
Hmmmmn, would be great if there was some left for sarnies, or for having with the delia Tart when cold...

thanks! This is fab. Could anything already on the list swap for the celery, herbs and seeds or would this be a frugalisation too far?
Have had a look at the list and I think we could jig the recipe so that we left out the celery, herbs and seeds and added some mustard powder to the chickpeas and, say, 25g each of the salted peanuts and cheese to the crumble mix if there is any of those ingredients available to be used in this recipe. The topping would then have more flavour to help the bottom0 -

Fab! Would you and others be willing to give it a go? The nuts were for peanut butter for toast/sarnies, but maybe there's some spare, will have a look

Will have a play aroundIf it is to be used within the month I am sure there is some more wiggle room for the vinegar too. I am assuming it will be later in the month than the beetroot soup to keep things easy, otherwise using the vinegar would be difficult

I really don't like zest much but I did it on the very fine part of our grater and I didn't notice at all
Turns out I am in tomorrow night after all so will have a go at the onion tart. This is all very exciting, are you enjoying it Weezl? Or is a bit like hard work?God is good, all the time

Hi guys finally got to the end
Not made it today but i have made the tart in the past without cheese and substituted half the onion for potato it does need something extra though ........i use dried thyme
I also do a onion and potato soup with dried thyme , i think the recipe is on the old thread Weezl if you cut the cheese right down you would have enough to pay for the thyme and have an ingredient for another dish(if you like the soup idea)
