Some brief stats for the onion tart so far...
    15 responders so far

    1. Over 90% followed the link
    2. The most popular answers, for question 2, was YUMMY..
    SMELL 57.2%
    LOOK 85.7%
    TASTE 76.9%
    TEXTURE 69.2%
No one responded, horrible, or needed meat yet ;)
    3. The 3 bears question, shows that the most popular answers is JUST RIGHT... althought 15% of person think there is too much cheese in the pastry, filling, too much onioins and too much buttery spread for the filling... so all of these could probably be reduced by an amount to reduce cose.
33 % Said leave the cheese out of the pastry completely, 23.1% said leave the buttery spread out of the filling completely

The most popular 10 out of 10, for the survey filler is 7... for OH is 9, reducing to 8 for first child, 7 for second child, and 6 for guest...

To frugalise the recipe, the most popular resonses were, reduce onions in filing, reduce or cut cheese in pastry.

A few testers thought this recipe was a faff... not for during the week...deffo a weekend cooking excursion ;)
One of the less faffs that I noticed, was one tester used their slow cooker for the onions .... sounds good to me :A

Just a few stats to be going on with... SO FAR ;)
I need to get a spread sheet with some definitive results, as and when....

But for now... I really need to go to bed, as I am up at 4.30am for work :eek:
Days off after tomorrow night .... so I hope to get a few more surveys out then

    About this bit quoted above.

When I filled in the survey, I couldn't put the same number in for two people. e.g. if OH wanted to give it 8/10 and then I also clicked to give it 8/10, OHs score would disappear. The only way round this was to give 8/10 and 7/10 - when I then went on to give the kids answers, I could no longer use either 8 or 7 out of 10 so would have to use 6 and 5 or leave blank, even though they wanted to answer 8.

I hope that ramble makes sense! It does to me, only I know what I'm talking about!

Was this something that was just happening to me, or did it happen to everyone else on this question? I ask because, if it was happening to everyone, the survey results on this question may not be as true as one would like.

    Yes... it absolutely makes sense....
I think I have sussed it out now :o.....
I cant amend the surveys that have already taken place, unfortunatley :o
But there has been some comments in the comments area's so I am taking that into account :o

    Thanks :)
And if anyone else does have any other issues regarding the survey's, please point me in that direction ... thanks ;)
Ok..... beddy byes for 5 hours :D:eek::o

Can I just say that these results are likely to be wrong because no two people can have the same vote on the survey. You are forced to put a different figure for each person. I don't know if this can be fixed?
Sorry just noticed some already have mentioned this.

OK, if anyone can define what WE see as apple sauce (is it apple purree or does it have chunks?) then I will try to replicate the carrott cake recipe without oil.
You MUST appreciate the effort it involves for me as I seem to have melted the motor on my blender (big bad burning fish smells + smoke tonight!) boo hoo!

    Hi Kaz, thanks :)

I should probably say before people go to lots of effort that I won't be able to include an appley version in this meal planner (there simply isn't going to be the money as it would raise the cost of the cake by 3 times:eek:), but do please, (obviously!) continue to do whatever experiments you'd like for your own families and situations, and do post it on here.

I just sadly won't be able to include it in the subsistence diet.

Hope that makes sense and is OK with you all :)

That was a valid point re the surveys - about the points outa 10. Not one that would have occurred to me - being single.

....Anyrate thanks to another member of the "HOW do they manage on so little sleep?" club:) for dealing with the surveys.

Apple SAUCE defo in my case.

Actually - if we used a chunky version - then it would lead to a different type texture methinks.

I'm hoping to find the time to slip in trying my personal amended version - and it will certainly be with apple sauce (not chunks). Wont be QUITE as per my perfect "amendment" recipe - as I've been experimenting over the last few months with food preservation - so sounds like an ideal excuse to see how my pureed preserved apples are doing (and I stuck to the "recipe" for my initial attempt - so its got sugar in:eek: - unlike my own normal way of eating).

I havent quite sussed out my proportions as to just how much oil to replace with apple puree - but I'm guessing at replacing 50% of that oil with apple puree.

MY own further thoughts on the carrot cake - to me...just adding a tad more dried fruit counts as a perfectly adequate replacement for the sugar in my book. I think there is a "sweetness spectrum" - analogous to the "sugar in tea" scenario. Some people dont put any sugar at all in their drinks (hence I could easily do without sugar in my house totally - just making sure I have enough to cover workmens drinks - as no-one I know uses it either). So - I'm a "savoury being" and my friends tend more towards that end of the spectrum. Obviously - on the other hand - there are many "sweet beings" - ie those who would put 2 or more teaspoons of sugar in their drinks. (Think they must be the ones buying Marks & Spencers ready puddings - they are SO sweet).

Almost makes me wonder whether our sweet recipes should come with "teaspoons of sugar" ratings - to judge peoples point on the Sweetness Spectrum (so outa a 4 teaspoon rating system - I'd be 0).

I was wondering whether the apples could come outa the fruit "ration" for the month? - or is it too small to allow for any "transferring over"?
