Booking a stag do for £2000 - Should I pay by credit card or debit card or both?

in Credit cards
Hi All,
I am just in the process of booking a stag go abroad. The total bill is just under £2000.
As everyone is giving me cash, it would be good to avoid the travel agents 3% surcharge and pay on the debit card.
My understanding is that if I pay £10 on my credit card (Egg Money) and £1990 on my debit card that I will get the same overall protection on the basis that the credit card has been used for part of the transaction (however small).
Does anyone know if this is correct? Any other advice welcome.
Cheers,
Steve

I've an idea that each individual item - so ticket, package, whatever - will need to be over £100, but yes, you can pay a deposit on a CC and still be protected.0

Don't expect anything back if people back out for no good reason though.0

Couldn't agree more, so get all the cash in first! Will save potential loss of money/friendships if anyone backs out. And yes, £10 on your CC card will cover you for s.75 providing the transaction is over £100. As you're booking through a third party however I am not 100% sure you will be covered, maybe take a stand alone insurance?
Somebody more knowledgable that I with respect to s75 will do doubt confirm/ correct me soon0
