How do I stop my female cat pooing in the yard

Options
I have had gracie since october, she is four and a rescue cat. she is lovely warm and cheeky and naughty. She uses the litter tray in the house but when outside she will not go in the countryside so close by to do her business. She insists on pooing in the yard on the concrete behind the shed and trys to scratch the floor as if to cover it.

How can i stop her pooing in the yard?

Why not do as us dog owners do and be glad its on the doorstep so its easily found to be picked up - bagged and binned? :D

what bags do you use and its just that my other cat does it in the countryside where it can rot down naturally, I hate putting it in the bin as it makes the bin smell really bad.

Nappy sacks - scented - £1 from the pund shop for about 300

We all hate picking up poo, we would all love that it came in ready wrapped parcels but its a fact of life

and it would be lovely if you knew 100% that your cat was using the open countryside but its prolly pooing in someone elses garden as well and they too are having to bin it

I have an indoor cat and flush his business down the toilet. :T You might try washing down behind the shed with bio washing powder to see if that removes the smell and breaks the habit? I have found that what goes in the top makes a HUGE difference to what comes out of the bottom. For Noah rice makes him stink out the whole flat, but grains/ cereals generally are known to make for stinky and soft poops. sick.gif On raw and high meat foods he does little rabbit droppings!

Why not buy a bucket or small bin, put a bin liner in it to keep in the garden just for the poo, that way you can empty it on bin day?

We have a large kitchen waste bin, lidded with a handle that locks the lid IYSWIM, we line it with compostable liners and tie the bag up when its filled, this goes in the wheelie bin (not ideal I know) so that when it gets to landfill it doesn't sit festering in a bag for years, it breaks down rapidly.
Wonder what other people do with their pets waste, we have spent many hours (sad!) considering the best way to dispose of ours, and there is a lot as we have Danes!
We did use flushable bags for a while, you can scoop with them and then flush but they weren't really roomie enough for Giant dog breed poop, might be great for cat waste though?

I do that in winter with my dog, but in summer it has to be disposed of pretty quickly because it smells and attracts flies :o

I know you can get green loo's for dogs, but I assume they work the same for Cats as well?

You can compost animal waste as well. I wanted to install the green loo but most of my garden is hard sandstone :(

Those are the flushable bags we used to use in the normal toilet, but they really do not have the capacity for Great Danes.
I guess you could throw the poop down that dog shoot without the bags though with a shovel.
    Sorry op, going off topic.

You are not supposed to compost cat poo, can't remember why. :o Maybe you could put it in a wormery tho? Given the OP only has a yard, chances are he doesn't fancy composting.

I am no large breed dog expert, but you might see if a change of diet reduces the 'output'. My cat changed overnight from pooping three times a day to once a day on a high meat/ low grain diet, and one of the others regulars was saying her Bengals only poop every second day on a raw diet! :T
