With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)

I suspect the OP is trying to show what little you need to do to become a MNAEA. And it is hardly a great deal if you are truthful. Not like becoming a solicitor or chartered surveyor.

To me the letters with an EA mean slightly more than if they didn't have the letters after their name but sorry I am not impressed.

I don't want to slag off all EAs particularly you and princessamy who give really good advice on this forum but I know EAs negotiators who have gone from shop assistant to negotiator and within a few weeks are supposedly looking after sales for their clients which does worry me.

I know exactly what the OP was trying to do, in fact, I can actually see why the question was asked. In my mind, if you genuinely want to know something then just ask the question, no need to be sarcastic/awkward etc.

I also know negotiators that have no experience, however, we all have to start somewhere.

It will only be a few years before the business is regulated anyway.....bring it on!

Thanks for replying and as I have said you and princessamy are a real asset to this board.

I do feel a bit (or should I say a lot) let down by my EA as he seemed so good and the staff were really good, long service, knew their stuff. But almost as soon as I was signed up the two long serving members of staff, who were in the office most of the time, left. Replaced mainly by one very young teenage girl no experience and often left by herself in the office. The other more mature in years but since found out has a nursing background so neither inspire me with confidence.

So like you bring on the regulation but NOT the NAEA as they are cleary too biased.
  • Agree with both pastmybest and miss motivation, it needs to be regulated by an agency who have the power and the inclination to do something about problems. NAEA is fine, but fairly toothless, and as mentioned very biased as it's a voluntary thing and that's where the funding comes from. I think if there were clear guidelines and training requirements, the industry as a whole would be so much better.
Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.

    Many thanks for your answers.

I previously googled MNAEA qualification/award/study etc but were unable to gain much information. It was a genuine desire to know something I could not find much information about.
