Splashback - Stainless Steel or Black/Frosted Glass??

Options
OH and I have recently fitted a new kitchen and cant decided between a stainless steel or glass splashback for behind the gas hob. Either would tie in with the kitchen so that really isnt a issue.

We have heard bad reports about stainless steel in that its really hard to keep clean, grease marks are hard to get rid of and your constantly out with the baby oil to clean it!

Has anyone had any experiance of this? Or are you all happy with your stainless steel splashbacks?!?

Thanks in advance

Never had ss splashback, but had toughened glass in the kitchen I am replacing at the moment.
Loved my old glass splasback and am most likely to go for it again, (the only other i am thinking of is Silestone, same as worktop).
Glass is easy to clean and fairly easy to install. SS looks too much like professional kitchens, so not really homely...having said that I liked that look once...between the two you are thinking of I'd go glass...hope this helps

Stainless steel is a devil to keep looking good, we went with glass. It's bad enough keeping the stainless steel oven and hob looking good.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

I have a stainless steel spashback, and to clean it I use that old MSE favourite...........

    STARDROPS!!!!

I make up a dilute solution in an old spray bottle, spray it on then wipe off with kitchen roll.... comes up sparkling.
