Is it possible to convince Barclays to share account info with credit agencies

Hello all,

Hoping you may be able to provide some advice regarding the situation I find myself in.

About a year ago after I failed a credit card application for a pre-approved Barclaycard it became apparent that almost all my data was missing from my credit reports. I am in the process of resolving all these issues (yes it has taken a LONG time) and all is under control except for 1 key account.

My old primary current account was an account I had had since I was a child, I had it for many years with it being upgraded to my student account, graduate account and main account whilst I worked for 3 different employers. It seems that Barclays won’t share this account information with the credit agencies as their terms and conditions when the account was opened did not cover credit agencies.

I have tried several times unsuccessfully to get the info shared, is there any way of doing this or am I fighting a losing battle?

I got so angry with Barclays that I moved all my accounts to competitors, however I have kept the key current account open and would happily start using it again if they shared the information.

Thank you for any advice

Some accounts in the past especially bank accounts don't report to CRA's unless there's adverse data i.e late payments, default etc.

The only way for it to show up is if you messed up your account!

There is nothing you can do about it im afraid!

Yes the only way to get a current account on your report is to open a new one.

None of my old current accounts appeared on my credit file. Only current accounts I'd opened since 2006 have.

Sorry, but you are fighting a losing battle :o

Anyway to be frank you're better to see the back of Barclays. The only bank on the high street I'd rate lower are Santander, all the others outshine Barclays any day of the month

If your dealings with other banks/CC has been good then it should not make any difference if Barclays is on your file or not. Simply make sure that your present credit report is correct and build it up as you go along.
