Provider switched without my permission? HELP

In this day and age, It baffles me how Talk Talk can let another provider take over my line without my permission. I received no less than 3 letters from Talk Talk stating

"We have received a request from another provider to transfer your services"

On all 3 occasions I called up, said I did not authorise this and they said they would cancel this, then yesterday in arrives a bill from Post Office telephone services, yes Talk Talk had let this other provider take over my line.

Oh and I haven't hit the best bit yet, After contacting Talk talk they said I could just put in a new order but apparently talk talk do now not do telephone line only services for new customers which is what I would be classed as, you have to take there broadband aswell, so now I can't go back to talk talk as I have broadband with O2.

Totally amazing isn't it. What should or can I do? Talk talk do not give a !!!!!!, and the Post office have said it was an error on there part.

Report them http://www.ofcom.org.uk/complain/landline/slamming/ and insist they arrange for service to be returned as it originally was.

how could it be an error on Post Offices behalf? didnt think they did outbound calling to secure sales, so not sure how they could have slammed you, unless it was done in branch....or an error with an order they placed and put in a number wrong or something
