Just to dampen the enthusiasm slightly before anyone starts putting tender plants out - the forecast for the next two weeks is potentially for very cold weather - minus 8 to minus 12!
That said it has been really nice out and about today so hopefully we'll get a few more nice days before winter returns (if it does!)Adventure before Dementia!0 -

The appearance of flies does not signify the end of winter.
Out in the sticks where I am, the flies decided to use my van as a place to overwinter. This was OK until December, when I took it for a longer spin 100 miles up the M5. As the cab warmed up, the flies began to emerge from inside the doors and soon I had hundreds all over the screen. It was like a horror movie.
Only a severe fly-killer dosing inside the doors 'cured' this problem, but even now, I'm getting the odd one or two.
So yes, we have crocus and snowdrops, where only a few weeks ago we had -12C, but unlike the flies, I shall not be fooled!

Well my wintersweet is flowering outside my front door. Not sure if that means it's winter or spring.

I found several clumps of violets today at my Mums. Daffs you can see the yellow on the tips, so if we have a few more days of sunshine they should be out too. Her snowdrops have been out now for around 3-4 weeks. I think that we're usually ahead of most places, we're Devon-Cornwall0

I always think that the first primrose is definitely the first sign of spring.VfM4meplse wrote: »I have a primrose emerging, I thought it died last spring :T0
