80% LTV mortgage with poorish credit history

Hi, my first post so bare with me;
I am looking at purchasing a new house which I've had the offer excepted on.
I applied with my partner for the nationwide deal at 4.39%, but was rejected by the credit score. :mad:
I was blown away by this, so looked at my credit file online, which turns out I have a default-it is only for £35 from my old mobile phone provider (which I was argueing with because I didn't think I owed it to them; but that is another story),
I also have two late payments on my bank account for bank charges which occured while I was in hospital last year. The bank agreed to refund the charges but the footprint is still left on my credit file. I do have a meeting with my bank next week to try to get them to remove this from my credit file, but even if they agree it wouldn't be removed by the time I need my mortgage which is ASAP.
If anyone knows of a flexible lender or broker who could help us out we could really do with the help as soon as possible.
Cheers

how old is the default?
There are a couple of lenders that will be ale to do this in my opinion.
Asking friends and family is a good way to find a good whole of market broker.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
Nationwide are notorious for wanting 100% clean cases.
The £35 default could fit in the criteria of quite a few lenders - especially as it is being contested.
Just to echo what HB says above - a good WOM adviser should be able to find a deal for you.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
