Bank Charges

I am out of work at present. A company has taken out direct debits without my permision. My bank has charged me £15 for uncollected direct debit from the same company. I was told that banks were not to charge if you are out of work is that correct?

    No. Not correct at all.

    You could ask for the fee back as you did not authorize the direct debit.
    What would William Shatner do?

    If the company are in error for attempting to take the Direct Debit when they shouldn't have, then they should be liable for any charges. Take it up with them.
    Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.

    Amazing what some people believe !

    How has A company managed to take multiple DD's without permission ? Did you not set them up in the first place ? Is this real ?
