Challenge Comparison Sites to include IGT

MoneySavingExpert.com appear to have a good relationship with a number of Energy/Utilities comparison websites, with a number of special offers available if you enter the comparison website via a link for MoneySavingExpert.com. Well come on Martin is it not about time we lobby the comparison sites to include IGT charges in the savings they are forecasting!

It appears I have again fallen foul of this current loophole that enables the comparison sites to show you are going to make a sizeable saving over your current tariff only to discover that neither their calculation of your current spend or your future spend is correct based on your accurate energy consumption because they do not factor in the IGT charges.

Sort it out...!

This site is possibly more useful as it details how the charge is levied and in what circumstances it applies (e.g. EDF charge only applies to gas only customers, and where it does apply, varies inversely with usage)

I have EDF dual fuel and their customer service has confirmed that I get charged 11.5p per day for IGT which is £42 a year. Nick Neale from EDF confirmed that it does not apply to Gas only customers and that Energy watch have incorrect data.

I can confirm that Edf charge it as Kwai Chi mentined. I specifically chose Edf on the basis of Martin saying on this site that Edf didn't charge it for dual fuel customers

For the comparison sites to include IGT charges you would need to put your whole address in before you start the comparison (instead of just your postcode)

If they made people do that this board would be full of people blasting the sites for wanting too much personal information before the comparison.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

To be fair, that post was made 2 months ago and yes you are correct that the charge is now made to all EDF customers as has been confirmed on this forum since then - they changed their policy (but I'm not sure when, admitedly probably before that post)

Suggest you advise the powers that be of a rate/product change so that the article can be revised accordingly :)

The fact the link gives source as energywatch demonstrates how long ago it was last updated ;)
