1080p HD Help needed please

when playing on my ps3 through a hdmi lead to my 1080p plasma it comes up with 576p input,is this normal or should it say 1080p?

Its all down to the software first off. Games are designed at a certain resolution and only a handful are designed at the full res 1080P The latest Gran Turismo demo's are one of them.

If you know your product is 1080p because it says so on the packaging then its probably the setting within the PS3. I have mine set to auto so it detects the res setting from the game and adjusts before loading it up. Your PS3 might be set to use 576p all the time. To check go to the Settings tab in the XMB and scroll down to Display settings>Video output setting and see if its set to auto when you go through the wizard.

If it is auto and you know the game or Blueray disc is 1080p then it could be a setting from within your Plasma.

it has helped mate coz when i have checked the disk box it says 720p & some of my games says 1080p

have you set the ps3 to 1080p in the display settings?
