I'm not bothered about them verifying my identity (to be honest I'm just about to head off with all the required identity documents to open the account). I'll just keep an eye on the initial mail I receive and just get my statements online.0

I too live on the Isle of Man. If you open any IOM bank account whilst resident in the UK (Isle of Man is not part of UK) all your money will be open to scrutiny by the UK tax dept and you will get clobbered. There is now a law of transparency. You only have an advantage of an offshore account if you are officialy resident in that place or resident outside UK in a non-tax country like the UAE/Saudi etc.
Best of luck if you try!0 -
Well, just been into Yorkshire Building Society to apply for the internet saver account and the guy there said you could only apply online for that one and that 9 times out of 10 they will only check you are on the electoral roll before opening the account. They will only ask for any further ID should you not be on the roll.0

I would like to open an account that is effectively a 'secret' account, kept away from prying eyes, that will not show up on my credit report nor will a search be made on my credit report.
I would have money being paid in on a weekly basis and would like to be able to withdraw cash from an ATM every week.
I do not want it with Santander, Lloyds, Barclays, HSBC, First Direct or Natwest or any banks connected with these ones.
I was thinking maybe a savings account such as Co-operative's Smart Saver might be the ticket as I would assume a savings account does not require a credit search.
Does anyone here know for sure which accounts will not do a credit search and will not appear on a credit report?
I assume from what you wrote that you have relatives or a prtner whom you want to keep money away from. This is known as a CASHFLO which stands for Cash Account Secretly Hidden From Loved Ones.
As far as I am aware although I could be wrong a credit report does not reveal detailed information about your accounts. Even if it shows that a particular institution has done a search on you this does not mean that you ended up becoming a customer.
Unless I am very mistaken all you need to ensure your privacy is ideally have a computer that is only used by you and cancel ALL paper statements from your bank.
I keep all my financial dealings away from my partner using the above method. I look forward to receiving some feedback on what I have written. All the bestMoney is the headache, money is the cure!0
