Paying a friend aborad

Hi all - new member, first post, hope someone can hep me
I have a friend in Germany, who has helped us to plan a trip there for me and my friends. She has to pay the travel agent around €400 for a hotel, and I need to find a way to pay her back ASAP.
Can I simply write a cheque in Euros? If not, would a German bank accept a cheque in pounds? Or do I need to do something else completely?
Thanks!

Why not just book the hotel online?0

You can go to your bank and ask to deposit money into their bank account in Germany. You will need your friend's IBAN account number. There might be a small fee from your bank.0

This is the best way. I have had a lot of dealings with banks in France and when I had a French cheque to cash in England there was a £13 fee to cash it. As it was only for a small amount, it just wasn't worth the hassle. I'm assuming that there will be something similar in Germany, although it might be even more as things often are over there. For the international transfer you will need the address of her bank branch as well. Good luck! Please call me 'Pickle'

Thanks everyone, I've been to the bank and got the form I'm going to need. It seems pretty backward in this day and age to find a hotel with no online booking facility!0

Yeah the best way for you to send money is through your bank although they usually charge high fees if it's a bank to bank transfer but at least you don't have to worry about the currency conversion, etc.Mr. Mulla0
