Car Scrappage Scheme on a 9 year old car?
Hi,
have looked around the internet, and on here, and am having trouble finding some info. I see that Nissan are offering scrappage deals on 8 year old cars, but are any other manufactuerers doing the same? (my car is 9 years old so am unable to use the normal scrappge schemes)
thanks for any info/help

The Nissan so called " Scrappage " deal is just sales talk, it is not really part of the official scheme.0 -
hyundai and toyota are also now doing it, for cars 7-9 years but as mentioned its just the 2k and they dont scrap the car0

oh ok, thanks that makes a bit more sense. tbh i dont care what they do with the car, scrap it etc, but if it means i get a guaranteed £2k off a small cheap car that sounds good. anyone else other than nissan, hyundai and toyota?
thanks0 -
Wait until the Scrappage Scheme ends, then reality will return to the market.
Makers will be desperate to sell stuff again.0 -
I agree with inactive just sit tight for the best bargains (short term). Unless, the cheaper the car the less margin they have to work with and £1k is the government part. So cheap cheap cars might work out more expenive.
I do however believe that car prices in the medium term are going to keep in rising with poor exchange rates and relatively high interest rates. I think in the past 10 years car prices were very low from an historical perspective.
(I might add that is mainly my gut feeling and would be interested if anyone has hard facts)0 -
I looked into this at my local peugeot garage - i thought £2k for my P reg Audi A4 was a good deal.
However, it turned out they could only offer the scrappage scheme on certain models, and it actually worked out better value to offload my car elsewhere.
I suggest checking what deals they offer at your garage, and when they tell you how much it will cost, look pained by the expense. They soon lower the price. As quoted above, dealers will do almost ANYTHING to sell you a car.0 -
This is a 6 month old thread - the scrappage scheme no longer exists !0
