We get the worst of both worlds, as we don't get the snow, but the schools shut (as it's a tad chilly)!!
I had to google you- surprised, thought everyone had loads last time except for me :D feel a little better now :o

Remember these are same people who predicated last year B&Q Summer and previous didnt state a storm that killed hundreds of trees in 80's

Even BBC I hear are think of dropping them for forecasts

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 Feb 2010 to Thursday 18 Feb 2010:

Rather cold with a mixture of bright spells and scattered sleet and snow showers in the north and east. Strong winds are also expected around exposed eastern coasts. The driest and brightest weather is expected in the northwest for much of the period. Rain, sleet and snow may spread into the south during Thursday, clearing southwards by the weekend (12th-13th). Overnight, frost is likely in many places, with locally severe frost inland. Remaining cold for the rest of the period with snow showers, particularly in eastern and some central areas, with perhaps some significant accumulations of snow in places. There is also a risk of further bands of rain, sleet and snow spreading into the south, particularly later in the period.

I didn't know B&Q have their own summer, that's rather groovy!

Anyway, the BBQ weather forecast was a long range forecast, and was a 60% CHANCE. Not a 100% prediciton. I.e there is still a 40% chance of it NOT being a BBQ summer.

As for the storm, that was a freak event as far as I'm aware. The weather is not 100% predictable, and in that case, wasn't. I saw a Michael Fish programme about that one! He showed numerous other times they had got it wrong and freak conditions broke out (but freak includes unexpected warm weather), but these times, it wasn't memmorable.

TBF, not sure whether, even with good warning, we could have escorted every tree to safety in time anyhow though ;)

Yeah, unfortunately they still get it wrong even with satellite technology providing live data.

Kinda puts some of the 5 year predictions on here, in context :D

The last "big freeze" where I am saw one small snow fall, which sat around for 2-3 days ... up to then and since then it's been warm (hot and sunny on some days) ... I don't expect there'll be a big freeze here this next time either.

Some of us did have a BBQ summer with no rain seen for weeks on end....and lovely sun for most of the time.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
