Our next task me thinks peeps is too help the lovely pap find a nice new job where they appreciate her.

Thanks Beanie, however I am sure I can try and do that myself. I am hoping to find either a p/t job or another main job within the next 4 months. If only for the increased income if nothing else :D

Ok im confuzzled with the courses....
Lou if he went into lecture IT (can't see him doing this, he has such low esteam, standing up infront of people and giving lectures  but you never know, I shall put it to him) what course are you saying he should start with?

BB he might be up for that job, depends on what the pay is as the petrol costs of him getting there and back everyday would be quite a lot

There are 2 options Sally, he could go down the PTTLS and CTTLS route but to be honest if he has access to teaching hours already (paid or unpaid) I would recommend the Cert ed which is over 2 years but incorporates the same stuff on the other 2 courses.

Its difficult to get on the cert ed though but it is heavily funded (at the moment).
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

I've counted my christmas stash - boxes seem bigger than contents somehow :o

12 people covered. Have 6 family members and the children next door to go. Also need to make two items of jewellery for two other family members. I am excited about this as am going to have a go at cufflinks and at a knotted and beaded necklace :) Need to make the effort early tho and not leave them to the last minute.

But surely he wouldn't just be able to go in and get a teaching job without any experience in teaching to HE ?

to teach anything to adults, he needs to start with Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS). We do that over 10 weeks at 3 hours per week and he could get that for free. He'd need to go to an information session to chat it over with the tutor and be either qualified in something or really experienced ie I could teach drama as I have a degree in it, but I have no cookery qualifications. He could probably teach numeracy or literacy to those on the lower levels because he has GCSE. The thing to consider is - where already teaches what he could teach? He'd get the qualification and then need to find someone to take him on.

hmmm, that's a point. I can't see it being much over minimum wage unfortunately. I guess though Dorset County Council have contracted out grounds staff? Might be worth looking at who does their parks etc - it might also be continental.

well, look at me :D I had no teaching experience before 18 months ago!! I did the PTLLS 2 years ago and have been doing CTLLS since last April. I have 5 weeks left. Adult learning (ie where I work) is FE rather than HE and this is now the recognised route into it.
