Thanks, I will do that (saw you trying to sneak a 16 in....b*gger off :rotfl: only kidding
).
I'm only doing CD for another 7 weeks, so will be off it in time for the longer distances.
I want to be as well prepared as possible by September, because I would really like to enjoy it rather than just struggle round feeling like I'm dying - so is doing the odd 16 miles beforehand the way to go? OMG, that's twice as far as the longest run I've ever done (8 miles last September)!
*repeats 'I can do it, I can do it' whilst rocking backwards and forwards slowly*
Snags did you get the womens running mag that I told you about....Bunny you too....it has a really good three week toning up plan which involves weights and treadmill and bike and cross trainer...it seems to have helped my overall fitness and had an impact on my running.
I did a 3 mile run last night and kept up with the front runner all the way without stopping (which is a first)Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Its a half right?
Then you should at least do 16 - but the best thing is to attempt (you do not have to complete it) at least one 20 - the reason is 16 is great for stamina building but 20 is really the line where you get massive improvements - if you can get there a half will be a walk in the park in terms of distance and therefore your pace over 13 miles will be faster than without such training.
Me and OH been looking at overtraining for distance races and have now decided that even for a marathon it should be possible to overtrain provided you run at a slow enough pace! I am planning on some 25 milers this build up and next time its likely I will run some longer again
However, despite all of the technical aspects there's one really simple thing you can do - be consistent this above everything else is what separates those who do their best from those who underachieve (at any distance) - only you can know what is a realistic target but you will never reach it if you training is not week in week out :cool:0 -
my graze box arrived!! has japanease rice cracker mix, dried cranberries (which Ben pinched) had some they were nice honey peanuts and pitted green olives with fresh basil and garlic (i'm sure i put no to olives!) will try them though.
Ben now wants dried cranberries for his lunch box where can i get them from?
my graze code is JJPZH3PBoiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Back from walk and had a hair cut on a whim...not great but it had got so long. Took a bottle of water with me to try and stop me buying food just because I was thirsty, which was good and have just had vegetable curry for lunch (no rice).....OH is out and I am enjoying the peace

Bun so sorry about the job, but agree with what everyone else has said.
Sammy fish and chips and fizz!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
