What person in the right mind would get credit off these kind of companies ? Well i know one,my girlfriend (i dont live with her)! Yesterday she signed an agreement for a 42" lcd Sanyo Tv off Perfect Homes(Linked or similar to Brighthouse). With interest she will be paying a massive £3,120 back over 4 years, were as i could of ordered her one out of the catalogue over 52 weeks at a full cost of £699 if i knew she was goin to do this ! Anyway simple question am asking is can she get out of this contract before its to late,or is it to late already ? Thanks for any feedback.

Presumably she signed in-store so no cooling off period. With Brighthouse the "optional service cover" supposedly allows the goods to be returned at any time without penalty and nothing more to pay, did she take out anything similar with P Homes? Nothing to lose by getting onto the store and having a go at cancelling anyway. Good luck.0

Yeah she signed in store. Also service cover is not optional ,you have to take that out.But i think i read somewere that you have to of paid half of what you agreed for that to apply,i maybe wrong.0

What ever happened to people saving up for none essentials!
These companies prey on people who just can't or won't wait, they do employ clever sales tactics which mask the real price of the goods but is it wrong? Morally yes! But legally they tread that fine line!
Not a lot you can do now but it serves as a good warning to others. These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

She should have a copy of the agreement and be able to check it, the B house one says nothing about paying half "returned at any time without penalty and nothing more to pay" but P homes is not exactly the same company so may differ.0 -
She needs to read her terms and conditions that she signed VERY carefully... Perhaps you should do it for her, as she's obviously not the brightest spark! Did they explain to her how much she would be paying in total? I thought finance people were supposed to do this?!?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Chop off her hands so she can't sign any more rubbish contracts! (on joking reluctantly,)0

You are right there Red.."What person in there right mind would...etc"
There are people out there who are desperate enough to do this,Brighthouse is a very busy store.I pass a brighthouse almost everyday when i go visit my brother in rehab and there are always people in there browsing even though there practices were highlighted recently by a consumer show.personally i would rather forego a television then get one on credit from them shysters, but then again i would rather read than watch television anyway.
Are you honestly telling us that she agreed to pay £3120.00 for a television that can be purchased for £699.99,she needs a ruddy good talking to that much i know,i really hope you find a way out of this one.
By the way is your girlfriend happy with the arrangement from Perfect homes,or has she had the chance to sit down now and realises what a big mistake she has made?
Good luck on this one.Forum spellcheckers are the pitts.0 -
Brighthouse were unceremonially kicked out of France when they tried to open there, as their government said it amounted to an attack on the poor. Shame our politicians aren't so bothered.0

They are both a swizz, Bright House near where i live was fined and ordered to compensate several customers that they were bullying into making payments on time, all of the customers were on state benefits, had kids to feed, etc etc, the staff were to blame in the bullying and giving unbelievable amounts of credit with massive interest on top, there was no way on earth them people could pay it.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
