Hiya

Me and my boyfriend are looking to book a week's break towards the end of March. We have come across what we think is a great deal, to stay at the Louis King Jason Hotel in Paphos which has good reviews, with flights for approx £300 each. We are really tempted, but all the sites we have looked at for information on the weather that time of year seem to vary!

So my question is, has anyone been to Paphos in March, and how warm is it? We want to get some sun so if it's going to be chilly we will reconsider!

Thanks for reading!

We were there in January this year and the weather was good, we even got a few days on the beach, sunbathing and swimming if brave enough. Temp was up to 23c some days. So weather not guaranteed but should be fine, go for it!

It will be warmer than the UK. It won't be hot.

March is usually a nice month but the weather is still variable; you can expect daytimes to be sunny and pleasant out of the wind, the evenings will be chilly. Sunset is just after 6pm at the start of March; you would want at least a heavy sweater for the evenings.

The biggest issue is the difference between daytime and evening temperatures. To put that in context on Monday the skies were clear, there was no breeze and the temperature was a lovely 19 degrees; by 5pm the temperature was 5 degrees. People were outside were wearing hats, scarves and gloves.

So, consider the daily minimums as well as the maximums.

I know three people (two local, one ex-pat) who swim for most months of the year. March tends to be the very earliest they get in the water. Expect the sea to be chilly, much more so than at the end of the season. It takes a long time for such a large body of water to warm up and cool down. Weather sites will tell you that in the summer the sea is about 28 degrees, in March about 17 degrees.

If you just want a change from grey skies and the chance for some sun on your face then you should be fine as it'll be warmer than home.

  • Been in April and daytime as mentioned was very nice indeed with mid 20's temps. As mentioned evenings got chilly once sun has gone down, in March a month earlier, even more so I would imagine so take a range of clothing.

5 degrees in a country not properly geared up for cold weather feels colder than it would here for example where double glazing/insulation etc are more the norm

Nice place to go out of season though and as others have said weather will be considerably better than here and should be a bit wamer than most of the Med for example.

I klnow where i would rather be in March!
  • As long as you don't expect the holiday atmosphere there is in summer it will be fine.

been very end of feb. weather ranged from warm to hailstone!

theres a link on my website to paphos weather as my brother runs a bar in paphos - pop in for a Keo whilst you are there - he is one of the few places that stays open in the winter, although there are still some good nights out to be had on bar street

    Thanks everyone!
We really want a week of relaxing in the sun, we don't mind if its not really hot, but we'd like to be able to do a spot of sun bathing and swimming.
The other option is the Canaries, would that be a better alternative?

    Thanks for all your help!

Have you considered Egypt? You should be guaranteed warm weather there at that time.

weather would be more guranteed in Egypt or Canries definitely. But you wont get as good a deal - if you want a week of relaxing in the sun I really couldn't recommend Paphos in March.
