How much for utilities...

...for a single person?

Hope this is on the right board...?

I am moving in to my first home soon and want to roughly calculate how much I can expect my bills to be (water, gas and electric)?

It is a small 2 bed flat with just myself living there, it is double glazed with night storage heating, and gas hob/oven.

Can anyone help? :o

  • If possible ask the existing occupiers to let you know their usage over the past 12 months.

You will also need to know whether PAYG or credit (billing) meters are installed.

If you can't do that, call the existing supplier for a quote based on past usage, it's not a perfect answer but will give you an indication. Once you have the keys, immediately come back on MSE and use the links at the top of this section to get a quote from the comparison sites listed.

At least you will give yourself a chance of saving some money that way.

Good luck and enjoy your new home
