but thought I would ask anyway, in the hopes I may just be being thick.
I went to Disney in November, took pics on my camera saved to a memory card. When I came home, didn't print out straight away, but plugged the memory card into my comp to view them on the screen. Unfortunately, I got a virus in the computer, while the memory card was still plugged in. I had to take the comp back to factory settings, but it was on its last legs anyway and I knew I was getting a new one, so had already got most of what I needed from it. But my memory card has wiped clean also! I didn't leave it in the machine when I formatted the computer (I think!95% certain!), so I am assuming that the virus has wiped it.
I'm just fingers crossed that some lovely person here will tell me theres some way to find them, but I'm pretty sure I've lost them forever, and will just have to learn my lesson and back them up in the future.
Thnks for reading, Claire

have you tried the memory card back in the camera you took the photos and tried to view them from there?
Im only saying this because sometimes if you remove the software of the computer that come with the camera you will not be able to view the photos, but you may be able to view them through the camera.
I cant really see the memory card being formated, but if you have retored all the settings if you have removed the software that came with the camera, hopefully the photos will still be on there.
Its like removing microsoft word and then trying to read a word document, it just wont open, hopefully thats whats happened with your memory card.0 -
There's a thread here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1192223&highlight=recover+files+sd
You don't need to pay for software to recover lost photos - here's the software link:

Hope it works for you0 -
Thank you all! I had already tried the memory card back in the camera, but it said no image files on card. My new computer doesn't have a memory card slot, so I plugged it in via the camera, and they have shown up on there! I was in the middle of unzipping the files for the PHOTOREC/TESTDISC DOWNLOAD so won't need them for this anymore, but they look like they could be handy to have anyway so I may keep them anyway.
I am currently in the progress of uploading them, and I will transfer to photobucket as soon as so I can't lose them anymore!
Thank you all very much!0
