I need a Silver Bar.

With all the countries making money to buy gold and silver and silver at a good rate now, I want to convert some of my cash savings that are getting depreciated into a nice block of silver I can hold, toss up in the air and not worry about the pound crashing.

I have found a good site and can get a 5 Kilo block delivered with the vat paid for £2k today. Was thinking of getting 5.

Any better way of doing this, and better sites to purchase...

I really feel the need to hold the investment and not have it on paper..

    It will be safe.

It just annoys me, with the VAT added.....

And not knowing if buying from a site is the best, and if the site is the best??

Silver is very Cheap, has been under-valued for many years.

It's an investment chance of a lifetime.

    6022tivo,
That is about best price for silver. But why invest in silver and pay vat?
You need best part of 20% rise to get your money back.

For the nearly the same price you could get some small gold bars with no vat.
As a 250 gm cast bar is about the same size as a custard cream, it is a lot more convenient. Would advise 5x100gm though.

My favourite coin is the 2010 Silver 1oz KOOKABURRA, they come in plastic capsules, and have the Queens head on the back.

The VAT might cover a trip abroad where you can buy silver tax-free. Looks like you'd need to check in an extra bag for the flight back though.

I was thinking about this today...But how would you get it back in the country?????

I suggested sticking a chain on the end of a 1kilo block and saying I came in with it???

If I do get caught coming back to the UK with it, what would I owe customs???? Just 17.5%??? Or do I get hammered??

If you buy within the eurozone you pay the local vat, nothing else to pay on return to UK.(Search engine for rates)

If you buy outside eurozone and try to get it through customs without paying, you will get more than a smacked bottom.

    Isn't gold bars better?

Should the pound get much worse, I may consider it. Even if I can only afford to get 2 troy ounce gold bars lol.
