  • You may be confused (as I certainly am) because both the wireless card for the laptop and the ethernet card in the wired PC are Tenda.

    Yes, the router is Belkin
  • MAC addresses:

From the wired PC, under Ethernet adapter local area connection 6:
    Physical address: ................00-B0-C2-02-54-94

From the laptop, under Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection:
    Physical address: ...............00-B0-8C-04-83-9F

From the laptop, under Ethernet adapter Local Area connection:
    Physical address: ...............00-06-5B-E7-FE-F3

What I'd be tempted to do is go to wireless networks. Choose advanced settings bottom left, then delete all wireless networks in here. Go to properties and change the settings so it connects to access point (as opposed to any availble network) and automatically connect to preferred networks

Then double click your wireless connection, enter the security key and wait for it to connect up. Once connected it should be OK

If it still fails and you have the relevant IP on your wireless connection in IPCONFIG /ALL i.e 192.168.2.2 and 2.1 as the gateway(if Belkin) what I'd do is go to router logon screen and setup the wireless security again

Quickest way would be to turn it off, apply then turn it on.

    Think that should do it

If you know the correct network name (SSID) and passphrase just delete the old connection from your list of preferred networks then search for it again in 'View available Wireless Networks' and create a new connection.
If you don't know the correct network name (SSID) and passphrase you'll have to log on to your router config page -
    http://192.168.2.1
  • Sometimes I think I must be really stupid, but you'll need to instruct me in words of one syllable.

Firefox - do you mean to delete the old connection from the laptop by going through control panel/network connections and right click on the connection name ? If so, the 'delete' option is greyed out on both the wireless and LAN. Is there another way I can delete ?
  • Lil306 - again, words of one syllable for me please.

Where do I find wireless networks - I've got network connections or wireless network wizard, neither of which have advanced settings in the bottom left.
  • Hi corners they gone quiet a sec co could you please type this in for each box in a cmd prompt (black box thing earlier with ipconfig)
    arp -a
    post output for each box
