Ok it looks like a connection issue but could also be DNS

    Some things to try -

Can you try pinging progressively - first test TCP/IP is working by typing
    ping 127.0.0.1

    Then try the router
    ping 192.168.2.1

    Then try google (without DNS)
    ping 209.85.229.105

You could also try resetting TCP/IP (again in a cmd box) type -
    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

    Then reboot the laptop
  • I get:
TCP/IP ping 127.0.0.1 - reply and ping statistics
Router ping 192.168.2.1 - request timed out.

So suggests it is the laptop/router - but how can it be corrected ? I have no idea
  • Have you tried resetting the router to defaults? As the Xbox works, it would seem that the problem is more likely to be with the laptop, but it's worth trying.
  • Not going to interfere with Firefox but in this post from corners here the default was 192.168.2.2 nor 2.1 ??? something dodgy perhaps with rtr

look for DHCP enabled on both adaptors and also compare the Default gateway values - they should be the same
you need to verify that the 'Default Gateway' values are the same
    # I tried and tried but I could not be heard :(
  • Sorry, FireFox, the wired connection is now saying "limited or no connectivity" (which we've had before recently but I can't remember how I corrected it), so the comparable data is quite different:

    Dhcp enabled on both
Default gateway value on Wireless = 192.168.2.1
Default gateway value on wired connection = [blank]
