im swapping to DD from repayment

Options
hi there

ive been in my 3 bed large end terrace for the last 10 years and am on a prepayment meters for G and E - they were here when i moved in.

however im so sick of crediting the meteres the gas is being eated up £10 about every 3 days ... im very stingy with my usage of G and E...turn every thing off inc heating when daughter has gone to bed at 8pm... 3 days a week im out at work 6am til 9pm ...

so ive aproached BG and they are installing proper meters om the 15th...brill!

so now i need to know what my expected bills will be etc... is £40 each per month too much/little to budget for??

ive looked at the BG websaver 6 which has come up on the comparison sites... will i be tied in to a contract with them??

i feel a little of a novice in this area as always been on prepayment....

also (sorry) is it worth staying on prepayment and doing the top up from home thingy!!!

thanks all x

I would start by assuming it would cost the same with your new credit meters as it did with your old pre-payment meters.

You may be on a slightly lower tariff now, especially if you get discounts for paying monthly by DD etc, but balance that against the possibility you may use slightly more as you are not constantly feeding the meter and you won't be far wrong.

And always nice if after a few months you've discovered you are in credit :)

you will not see a huge difference in over all cost but it will be spread out over 12months whareas you are paying as you use it on pp
be very sure your monthly payments cover your consumption or there will be nasty suprises later.
there are many threads about customers who get hikes in payments because they were too low.
