Hi, basically, just moved into my own house about 2 weeks ago, and have no idea where to start with gas and electric, i dont know who current provider is :embarasse do i just go find my own gas/elec providers??

    Initially you have to use whoever is supplying your house at the moment - you have entered a legally binding deemed contract with that company.

    You should have read the meters when you moved in. As you haven't had a letter addressed to 'The Occupier' it probably means the old occupants haven't paid their bill on leaving.

    By not contacting your supplier with your initial meter readings they will probably bill you for some of the gas/electricity the previous occupants used.

    Find out from landlord/letting agents(if renting) who the supplier is and what have the previous occupants paid. If you own, sue your solicitor!!!!

    I've bought the house, and took readings on the day i moved in, how do i find out my current energy provider?

    Found out my gas supplier is british gas, still trying to find electricity supplier!!
