I have just bought a new Desktop PC - the new Medion from Aldi.

I want to run my old desktop PC to copy files but only have one monitor.

Is it possible to use my laptop display as a monitor for the desktop PC?

If so - how?

Thanks

Have your desktop PC (old) tv out? And what about Laptop? Have it? If so you can connect via tv out and set up in windows.

Have you a TV with TV-Out output? Use television as Monitor... It's easier than laptop...

so you have 2 PCs 1 Monitor and 1 laptop?

to use the laptop as a monitor it would need a DVI/HDMI/VGA input (some do have this for DVD playback)

if you have 2 PCs and 1 Monitor and an internet connection install LOGMEIN free on the old pc then put the monitor on the new PC and connect to LOGMEIN on the old computer with out a monitor

or if your OK with a screwdriver you could just take the hard drive out of the old PC and add it to your new pc

or you could use an external hard drive to copy the data over, which you should have for doing backups incase the computer goes wrong
  • Also you could try tightvnc which is also free for remote pc viewing
