Prepare Wall for Paper Advice Needed

Hi all,
We are going to be putting up a patern paper on our chimney inside the living room and wanted some advice on how to prepare the wall for best results.
The chimney was painted a few months ago when we did the whole room so is it just a case of getting a lite sand paper and to rub the surface where the paper is going down to remove any small bits etc.

Tbh if it's good enough to have it painted, then I'd imagine it's fine just to paper on. If there are any lumps etc smoth over them and also fill in any cracks etc. Paper does cover more imperfections than paint anyway!0

As above, plus size the area to be papered..................

If you have it , might as well use it .
but would never buy separate 'size'0 -
Am getting lost what u keep saying 'Size' lol
It stats on the package for only size absorbent or porous surfaces. Would a painted wall be classed as this
Cheers again for the advice

Size is wot
we call a diluted amount of wallpaer paste.
Slopped onto wall before hanging wallpaper ( which is pasted)
Instructions are on package.
I stick it on all walls , before I start, helps me to 'slip/move' wallpaper to final position.0 -
So is this needed to be done just before hanging the paper or a day or so before as it does not state when to apply it Sorry LOL

Do it the day before to give it a chance to dry out properly, although that won't take long.
Don't apologise for your questions - we all learned from someone else.....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

:rotfl: That would be forward planning .
No! just slap it on before hanging .
( I normally draw my plumb line on first , on dry wall , pencil would slip if I sized first )
PS , off dancing , any other question will have to be answered by others
