Can I withdraw an insurance claim?
In January, in the worst of the weather and on a snowy icy car park, my car decided to go a different way to which I wanted her to go and I ended up sliding into a hedge and colliding with a raised kerb. The end result was just a damaged bumper which I'm sure will need replacing, the cost of which would be several hundred pounds.
As I have protected NCB and a total excess of £300 I decided to claim on my insurance and contacted them the following day. They logged the claim and told me that they would email me with the details of the proposed repairers within a day or two and that they themselves would contact me shortly afterwards.
Three weeks has now passed and I am still to receive an email or a call, but I've now re-assessed the damage and carried out a little more research and it seems I might now be able to aquire a used bumper and get it fitted and resprayed for around the same cost as my excess.
Is it possible for me to contact the insurance company and withdraw the claim?

Thanks
Do you think declaring it but not actually claiming would make much difference to my renewal premiums in future?
I assume the renewal premiums would be higher if I did proceed with the claim even with protected NCB0 -
If you have an accident your premium will go up regardless of whose fault it is.0

I was involved in a non fault accident and mine has gone up.This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0

In OPs case yes, hard to blame someone else when you the only vehicle involved
It is 100% right. As soon as you mention you have had an accident your policy is loaded. Even if your car is parked on your driveway and someone drives into you.
Harsh but true.0
