Santander so rude!

Hi all
Sorry but just need to have a big rant about how rude and rubbish i think Santander are! I have a car loan with them and got into difficulty paying it back after being of sick so had 2 missed payments. I called numerous times to let them know i was having abit of financial difficulty but still i was getting letters every other day telling me they were sending me a default notice and were gonna take the car off me! They did nothing to help me or offer me anything except saying 'they needed the money now or else' and 4 mornings in a row i got called at 7.45am threatning me. i'm assuming after how they spoke to me on the phone that they work on commision, either that or they dont read the notes on the system! Finally got through to a girl who helped me now were getting sorted.
Also is it right that every finance agreement can offer you a financial settlement (i think thats what its called) as i also have dealings with tesco and they have sent me a form asking me to fill in my expenditure and we can just pay what we can afford every month till i get back on track.
Sorry, i know these people have a job to do, but been called at that time in a morning and spoken to like crap is not going to make money appear from thin air!
Arrrggghhh! off my chest now! :j feel better!
Sorry again, winge over!

You could try doing an income and expenses sheet and send that to them offering to pay what you can afford until you're back on track.
I've been in a similar situation and have been unable to work for the last 20 months and doing this has helped me with my creditors until i'm sorted out again.
I'm sure though I read in another post that you were back on track so if that's the case try and sort out paying the arrears over the next couple of months. If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00 -
Tinkerbell lily, did you deal with santander or were you put through to their debt section? And if so, what happened, were you told you had to pay of the balance in full or did they give you a chance to pay in instalments again or did they just say they would take you to court to get the car off you?0

i had a recent argument with santanders 'we will help all we can/payments' dept.
basically, my partner is paid by cheque whereas i am by bacs but im only part time and that particular month my partners cheque got delivered via the post late and therefore wouldnt clear until the monday and we had no money, no food etc as DDs had cleared what money was in there....
so i called asking if perhaps we could have even £50 to see us through 2 days to feed our kids more than feed us. [yes we were bad not to have stocked up but werent expecting the dog to have to be rushed to the vets and pay fees because he had had a stroke]. despite the cheque clearing the monday they point blank refused to let me have £50 on my overdraft because i have a arangement each month to pay them back a certain amount of the existing OD [approx £700 so not a great deal].
the girl i spoke with said, and i quote ''dont be phoning me with your sob stories''. i was furious, it was not a sob story and in no way did i exaggerate our reasons for the request. she was very argumentative and suprisingly a manager was unavailable but i could speak with a supervisor who told me he had been listening to my call and that i was rude and told a sob story yet he couldnt tell me one thing about my call and reasons for our request when i quizzd him.
unfortunately i never got round to complaining, maybe i still can but i was outraged. we only managed to feed the family by me pawning some jewellery which is sentimental and not what i really wanted to do.
for the sake of £50 and a cheque for £1700.00 clearing midnight sunday.
and to make matters worse, they say a cheque paid in takes 5 days to clear so why does one going out of the account only take 3? thus making one i wrote for nursery bounce? There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

Go back to your vet and check this diagnosis. When I had a dog who appeared to have had a stroke the vet told me dogs do not have strokes.Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

All banks/loan companies want is to get thier money back. They are not there to be helpful or kind to you. They will say one thing on the phone(yes of course we will let you pay in installments etc) and then deny saying it the next time you phone.
Never believe them, never agree to anything without a letter.
Go over to the debt free board and you will get lots of help.
good luck.
ps--if you have other debts you cannot pay expect A LOT of companies to talk to you like this--another reason to only communicate in writing.LBM-2003ish
