in Credit cards
Hi can anyone give me some info on the Virgin CC.
I am thinking of getting one to do a balance transfer.
Do they charge for balance transfers, I read on their mini version of the T&C that they charge for cash advances and some balance transfers, whats that supposed to mean, you pay for balance transfers or you don't?
Do they give high credit limits?
And out of interest do they do SBT's like Egg or not?
I believe they are an MBNA card, can anybody tell me all the cards that are MBNA ones?
Any help appreciated.

MBNA actually do loads of cards. You can see a selection here but make sure that you click on the [More Choices] buttons for info on the full range.
As for whether there's a charge, it really seems to depend on what direction the wind's blowing plus the day of the week multiplied by the year divided by 75.2. In other words, you may!!!
However, I didn't!. I've only had one MBNA card - a Virgin card. I did put the BT down on my application form, they then wrote to me saying that citing a legibility problem (impossible!!!), so I went online and did it there instead. I didn't get charged.
Some people have said that if you put the BT down on your application form, you are unlikely to be charged, but there's no guarantees i'm afraid. Also, check the T&C's - there are various versions going about, some charging a maximum of £35, others £50, and others unlimited. Assuming you get a good credit limit (e.g. £15,000), and there's a £35 charge - that's not too bad considering that they're lending you £15K free for 9 months. £35 for £15,000 is only 0.23%.Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000

Cheers for the info Martins love Child, I have looked at the MBNA site and clicked on more choices and I see what you mean they do loads of cards, but why can I not see the more popular ones like Virgin on there, or am I not getting to the right bit.
Also how can you check the Virgin T&C? I cannot find anywhere on their site to see these. It's as if you have to sign up first to get them.
Also form your experience are you saying not to bother with them after your slight problems with them or would you still go with them and ignore this.0 -
The Virgin T&C's are available here. It suggests a max charge of £35 so should be worthwhile. I've certainly had no problems so you should go for it. Stick the BT down on your application form. If they write to you (as they did with me) citing legibility issues, then it's either a delaying tactic or an excuse for them to sell you payment protection insurance in which case a) do the transfer online, b) you don't want the insurance - do the transfer online and you don't have to phone them to listen to their teflon sales technique!!How can you check the Virgin T&C? I cannot find anywhere on their site to see these. It's as if you have to sign up first to get them.

I had an MBNA card and as soon as the 0% finished, I applied for the virgin card. They transferred the limit from the MBNA card to Virgin and did a balance transfer. No charge. There was a freebie of MP3 player. They wrote to me saying it is out of stock and will send it as soon as the stock arrives!0
