    Hey Dtaylor,

We went to Sherwood in January, it was ace. They still had fake snow from Christmas. It was the perfect time to go, as we had something healthy to look forward to after Christmas!

  • We have booked to stay during May in one of the Original Executive Style lodges and was just wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any laundry facilities either in the lodge or on site?

I'm sure they don't. I stayed at the same accommodation in Elveden both 2 and 3 bedroomed and they don't. I also checked the accommodation on the website and no washing machine listed. I did check Elveden's village map and they have a launderette.

What I would say is that unless your doing a week stay I doubt you'd need to do any washing. What I do is just take enough clothes etc for the stay plus som extra towels. With maid service you get clean towels when you need them anyway.

We stayed in one a few years ago and it did have a washer dryer in the lodge. We returned to the same villa recently and it was converted to a new style and this didn't.
I agree about taking enough clothes, it's a holiday you don't want to be washing ;)

If you need to hand wash a few things the bathrooms have good sized heated towel rails that work well. They dry our large swimming towels overnight.

    Which site?

I know Sherwood and Elvedon both have a launderette, but I'm not sure about the others.
  • We went to CP whinfell last year and were looking to return late this year. We stayed in a lakeside lodge but to be honest it was a bit tatty for the price. Any ideas if they are all the same or are the ones on the high upp side of the lake any better. IYKWIM!

    Hi Freddie,

I have stayed in a comfort lodge at Sherwood (the 1st time I went). It looked pretty dodgy from outside, but was a bit like Youth Hostel type accomodation, and we had a brill time. The 2nd time (Sherwood) we stayed in a new style executive lodge, which was gorgeous all new swish deco and rainforest shower and jacuzzi bath. The last time (Sherwood) we stayed in an original style executive lodge and this was fine.

I found little price difference between accomodation types, but I suppose it depends what time of year you go. I'm sure its extortionate in School hols.

  • Hi, We are going to Whinfell on Friday 1st April for 3 nights for the first time with hubby and 2 boys age 2 and 7 years. From friends that have been they said don't eat out, very expensive, easy enough to cook yourself and save lots of money. I'm booking the Teddy bears picnic for my 2 year old, thats all. My 7 year old is probably going to have 2 activities but paying for 1 himself (doing chores for £), maybe zipwire or treetreking and canoe capers. Have you received your stuff in the post yet? I've heard the outdoor children's play area is very good. I'm at three oaks and appartantly only about 10 minute walk to centre, past play area. I'll email you when we get back to let you know how it was and any tips.

  • We have just been to Whinfell. If you are eating out with children I would recommend Hucks diner. They have an eat all you like buffet for kids for around £7 that included a drink and ice cream. Also wouldn't recommend the zipwire . Although it is shown as an hour it is mostly spent waiting around for your one turn which lasts approx 30 secs. Tree trekking was great but make sure children don't have a fear of heights as once they are on the course there is no option but to continue. A boy in another party screamed and sobbed his way round which wasn't pleasant for anyone .
