Can I put a blog within my website?

Hi all,

I'm not overly technical (that's putting it mildly!) and am currently building a website for my painting using one.com as a host. I would like to build a blog into the website, not a link to another site, but as a page on my site. Is this possible and if so could anyone point me in the direction of what to use and of how to do it?

Thank you x

Have you spoke with your host first ?

I only mention this as they may already have preloaded software for you, or can upload some depending on their control panel

If not, and providing your host doesn't mind. You could install a blog software such as Wordpress. It's very good but you need PHP / MySQL support IIRC. Otherwise you could just use a simple HTML blog software, however must stuff is PHP based which any decent host should support

Installation without control panel, is just a case of extract file contents, navigate to install.php enter details and let it run. Then delete the install folder to stop any backdoor abuse

Sites like blogger will publish a blog via FTP direct to your hosting... No database or anything required, it publishes flat html files, relatively straight forward and customisable

Your host front page shows "Blog 3 clicks" on the front page against every package.

It also shows PHP/MySQL support which means you could use some other free script if you don't like the one they use.
  • I use wordpress and have built my site around my blog.

Looks like your host offers blog functionality!
