struggling with photos. Not alot has happened to be honest. As they started to clear the site then discovered some dumped drumps of oil/chemicals. we seemed to wait ages until the all clear was given. At the moment site has been cleared and secured. It has been turned over and rotivated and the council. We are waiting on leaf mould/topsoil/compost being dug in. Here is a link to a piccy taken by a fellow member.

I will get some more once I am actually onsite. Looks like another 2-3 weeks. I now need to start manically planning what to plant/do and maybe get some seeds planted up this week and consider possibly buying in some little plants.

Tools - carboots or ask on freecycle. Even ask elderly neighbours who used to garden if you can borrow a fork/spade.

Plants - poundshops and lidl have fruit bushes. Morrisons have fruit trees. Quite cheap too. Small investment gives long term gain.

We EVENTUALLY got access to the site today :) I am so hyper excited.

I have some things realy to go up already but the plot is quite stony so I need to work out how to sort that. Rake and hard work i think.

4678909496Brilliant, we got our first allotment 3 weeks ago after a 3 - 4 year wait. We've been lucky as the parish coucil got a JCB to clear the plots and take off the top layer of soil. However the weeds and grass are growing like mad. We're currently giving it some hammer with a hoe, it's hard going but certainly makes us sleep well :) Good luck !!

Above is a photo of hubby having a dig, as you can see we have a lot of work to do.
