Is there an open source software sticky?

Hi
I know there's already a lot of stickies in the Techie section. However, I've been looking for a thread on the best open source software as I know quite a bit about this sort of thing and use it for virtually everything, from openOffice to VLC to G.I.M.P. etc..
I was thinking that this could be a valuable, something like this list for example:

As moneysavers, this could save a lot of time and money
Thoughts? Have i missed a thread like this already?
